Carol Platt Liebau: Fight to the Finish?

Fight to the Finish?

Israeli Prime Minister Olmert says Israel won't stop fighting until Hezbollah is disarmed. Good for him -- it's about time.

In any case, it's also good for the U.S. Not only is Hezbollah defeated, but Iran, too would be put in its place -- or, perhaps, more, if the Israelis really decided to do this thing up right and take out their nukes.

The fact is that Israel could afford to play push-push back with its enemies while they were still technologically unadvanced. But Israeli defense expert Yoni reports that Hezbollah has weapons capable of reaching way into Israel, and that's somethign the Israelis simply can't tolerate.

I think Carol was postulating that a "finish" would be good for the US. I didn't read it as a fait accompli.

We're going to have to draft Carol (and Winston, the IED-sniffing pooch, too) if we're to win the looming regional war she's jonesing for.

Everybody contributes in their own manner, well almost everybody, Ditto and Duke.

Carol is our herald - Blowing the Shoffar (Jewish bugle) and pointing to the enemy. Some of us are too old and crippled to get back into uniform. We fight with our keybords. But we all must fight.

We are in a fight for the survival of our society - and as we said back in the 60's

You're either part of the solution, or you'e part of the problem. Pick a side.

You and Our Great Leader just luuuuuv to reduce everything to a binary choice, don't you? "You're either with us, or against us." Whatever.

Tell me, Floblog, how your keystrokes help "fight"?

And Hoity needs to put down the bugle. Our cavalry already has its hands full from too many buglers and too few riders.

Ditto - I earned the right to say what I say in an American Uniform. I also earned your right to spout your silliness.

Carol draws attention to the problems in our society and shows the courage to continue this stentorian voice in the face of what to some might be withering criticism. I admire her chutzpah.

I write because I can no longer carry a weapon. As Yeats said: "I will not go softly into the good night". I will continue blogging, commenting and teaching as long as I have the energy.

G-d Bless these United States of America

Yes, that was me, Flomblow.

And as Dittohead has pointed out, Carol selects slanted pieces to bolster here slanted views, which always focus on concocted "travesties," many of which were caused by her and her ilk.

Where's the courage in that?

AhhMaking fun of names - you have now gotten down to 3rd grade sophistry. When are you going to try and steal my lunch money?

As the bard said -- Like a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

So of course you bri\liant retort will be --"That sound like you?"

The only "just war" is one that is fought to a finish. Israel has not been able to finally and totally defeat its enemies for five decades for one reason and one reason only - its enemies in the West. It needs to wage real, just war and triumph. So does Bush in Iraq. No more talk of "civilian casualties". All targets are judged only by whether their destruction will make us (US or Israel) safer or not. It is the Muslim cowards who hide behind children and women. They are responsible for all civilian deaths. We must be responsible only for victory.

How sad! Heck of a job.

How sad! That you can't grasp the IFO: It was that Clinton's biggest worry WAS when and where one would retire early after making a fortune that THIS HAS BECOME BUSH'S PROBLEM.

Yeesh.

All these things were problems under Clinton, and the signs were there, if you just LOOK.

The first WTC bombing, the Embassy, Mogadishu, the Cole.

OBL himself has stated that it was Clinton's LAME response to those Marines being killed (Run Away!! Run Away!!) that made him believe that America was indeed Mao's "paper tiger", and he could attack with impunity.

So, if Clinton had just had some BALLs in the first damned place, then
a) 3000 people would still be alive
b) Saddam probably would still be in power

Geez. As Churchill said:
"Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most times he will pick himself up and carry on..."

Just DETERMINED to saunter on, aren't you?

At critical times throughout history the most important issues became simple, binary choices.

Thank God men and women of courage have made the right choice so many times!

Thank you for admitting that you at least, if not the entire left, are still operating with a September 10, 2001 mindset.

I agree. I believe we are coming to the point where it is time (long past time) where one side must utterly destroy the other side. There's no other historical precedence for determined, warring factions to make peace.

Let the winner determine the terms of peace.

By the way, before anyone accuses me of advocating genocide, when I refer to "utterly destroying one side", I'm NOT talking about general populations. I'm talking about military and political victory. Sadly, the military victory will have to be so devestating that the general population will become resigned to surrender, rejecting the ideals that have brought them into this war.
