Scaredy Cat

President Jimmy Carter, showing all the moxie that he demonstrated in dealing with the Russians from 1977-1981, is refusing to debate Alan Dershowitz about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Irony alert:

"There is no debate in America about anything that would be critical of Israel," [Carter] said.

Wait a minute. Isn't that just what Dershowitz is asking for . . . even as Carter refuses to participate?

I write this with some trepadation. I resist using the term Antisemitism. I believe hiding behind terms like that are cowardly, but I am so totally aghast at the activities of the former president (power case intentional).

Blaming the Jews has been a European panacea since the Crusades. Now the new code word for Antisemitism is Anti-Zionism. After all All Jews aren't Zionists? Only the evil ones.

I am Zionist. I believe that the Jewish people have a homeland, Eretz Yisrael, and it has had a continuous Jewish presence for thousandsof years.

I am also greatful to the American Christian culture which has given American Jews the freedom that we have never had before.

Little men like Mr. Carter trade in ignorance. The follow the old belief that all the problems of the world can be eliminated by eliminating the Jews, or in this case the Israelis. When cornered by a liberal he retreats behind meaningless verbage.

Mr. Carter was a failure as a President. His domestic police nearly drove the middle class into the ground. His foreign policy helped spawn the Islamofascist movement.

Now his intellectual god-son, John Kerry, is trying to do for Iraq, what he helped do for Vietnam, give aid and comfort to the enemy.
