Carol Platt Liebau: A Shameful Blame Game

A Shameful Blame Game

Heard a clip of Keith Olbermann trying to blame the Virginia Tech murders on the fact that the President and Congress (the Republican Congress, of course) didn't renew the assault weapons ban first put in place in 1994.

As this blog quite correctly points out, the high capacity magazine used by the Virginia Tech killer wasn't even covered by the ban.

And once again, the same old question: Is Keith Olbermann outright duplicitous, or just ignorant?

Olbermann is a hack worthy only of the guttermost realms of the way-out-wacky-looney left. His is not even biased journalism. His is outright, undiluted propoganda.

He hasn't said a thing worth listening to since, "Way down town, BANG!"

Carol,

It just seems so odd to me to watch as this unfolds. Every time there is a major shooting tragedy like what happened at Virginia Tech everyone expresses shock, even outrage.

And then we do absolutely nothing.

Why are we so paralyzed when it comes to doing anything, even the slightest precaution, when it comes to the safety of our high school and college students?

Are you kidding me, Carol? Olberman's right on the money. Of course it's Bush's fault! What isn't??!?!

KO. What a boob.

Like allow faculty and staff to carry? Can you point to THAT obvious solution?

Hey, Marshall,

"like allow faculty and staff to carry"

I'm assuming that you mean to carry a firearm. This probably would not change anything, as most people don't want to take a gun to work.

Every place I've ever worked didn't allow guns. Why would a school be any different?

Even if all the faculty and staff at VT had guns, it would not have deterred the young killer. He likked himself. He was not thinking of his own safety earlier this week.

I dunno. Maybe because of how many mass murders have taken place in schools? That could be a good reason. And yes, if someone was carrying it would indeed have made a difference. For example, if the 3rd victim had a gun, there might have been 30 lives saved. Even if the last victim had a gun, the punk would only have been able to murder 31 instead of 32. Of course this is predicated upon the theory that these victims would've been able to pull their weapons in time. But if the first couldn't, the next would've. All obvious.
