So Much for "Consensus"

Science is rebutting many of Al Gore's claims about global warming. Perhaps now we'll see whether those who believe fervently in global warming base their convictions on science, or on a quasi-religious faith.

Heartland Institute is well known for marketing junk science. As recently as 2006, it was promoting smoking in public places.

Time for crackpot ideology review?

Carol,

James M. Taylor, who wrote this piece, is with the Heartland Institute. This organization gets major funding from Exon Mobile and General Motors. The organization is basically a PR front for the big corporations. as long as they are out to make a buck, they are not interested in the truth getting out.

First, please note that the studies the author cites are not from the Heartland Institute -- they are from other sources. Second, so what if the Heartland Institute gets funding from corporations? The scientists most likely to get government funding are those who are likewise most likely to hype the supposed dangers of global warming -- yet their motives are never impugned, even though they may have an agenda as predetermined as any "corporate sponsored" researchers. Why the double standard?

Because they side with the Goracle. Earth to Carol sites Heartland was "promoting" smoking. A link would be helpful. At another site, Taylor was again ripped by a commenter who used contrary data to make the case, while never citing why that data was more credible than Taylor's. No wait a sec. I believe he used the "corporate lacky" angle. Well, that ends it, doesn't it?

Carol, you'd have an argument if you could prove your nefarious accusations. That is quite an unbelievable conspiracy theory... thousands of scientist around the world got together some how and agreed to fake their research and studies to get grants.

Despite what you claim and surely this would be the greatest fraud in the history of mankind, the Heartland Institute leaves the elephant in the room untouched. The elephant being the IPCC report.
