Censure John Murtha

As Clarice Feldman notes, he slandered our fighting men about Haditha. Maybe when the Senate Democrats are holding their little Tuesday night sleepover at the Capitol, they could find some time to apologize for their compatriot on the House side.

The Democrats have neither the moral compass nor the courage to do what is right concerning Murtha. And it's going to cost them dearly.

Murtha will be a mill stone around the neck of every Democrat running for office in 2008. He will be censured alright, but by the public. And he will take more than a handful down with him.

Republicans will retain the White House as the American public finally sees a chance for victory in Iraq. Democrats will lose control of the Senate and possibly the House as well.

Murtha will be highlighted in bold face and underlined on the epitaph of every defeated Democrat. Pelosi and Reid will be forever scorned for their short-sighted, greedy political gamesmanship during such a serious moment in our nation's history.

What a fantasy.

The reality is Murtha will be reelected, the Democrats will control a filibuster-proof margin in the Senate, and their majority in the House will increase as well.

And W will forever be known in the history books as the fool who allowed his personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein to derail what was our golden opportunity to secure our borders, capture bin Laden and his fellow scum in Tora Bora, and undertake serious measures to reduce our appetite for foreign oil.

But he knew we were going to Baghdad even before he took office, probably even as he declared during a debate that he did not believe our armed forces should be used for nation-building.

Let's put my "fantasy" in a time capsule along with yours. Fifty years from now, let's see whose vision was fantasy and whose was not.

By the way, I never said Murtha would not be re-elected. Some of the most vile (in my opinion) politicians are in "bullet proof" districts or states where they will be allowed to stay in office as long as they wish. What I did indicate was that Murtha will be a major reason several Democrats will be defeated in 2008.
