Dead Serious?

Cindy Sheehan announces in an op/ed today that her fellow citizens are flocking to her nascent House campaign against Nancy Pelosi.

She also has some remarkably harsh things to say about the Democrat Party:

The Democrats are the party of slavery and were the party that started every war in the 20th century, except the other Bush debacle. The Federal Reserve, permanent federal income taxes, not one but two World Wars, Japanese concentration camps, and not one but two atom bombs dropped on the innocent citizens of Japan -- all brought to us via the Democrats.

No doubt Mrs. Sheehan is sadly confused about at least one of these particulars -- for those who oppose the mindless slaughter of Americans, dropping of the atom bomb after warnings were given to the Japanese minimized casualties among our soldiers.

But never mind. As the Democrats are learning, the media monster they created isn't so pretty now that she's turning on them.

The left is not so rigidly in lock step as the right is. Had they been, less people would've voted for Nader and more for Gore back in 2000.

There's also a degree of disagreement allowed within leftist thought. There are many leftists who support impeachment and many who don't. Back when Clinton was being impeached, anyone who didn't support impeachment was a commie - showing just how much the right is in "lock step".

Cindy has every right to say and do what she is doing. This is not a "monster" the left has created - especially when you look at the monsters that the right created in "Witch-hunt" McCarthy, "Segregation" Wallace and "K Street" DeLay.

Monster is an appropriate label for those that lied America into a war of choice on cherry-picked intelligence. Cindy is a victim of those lies.

I certainly wish her the best of luck.

You've become laughable, Salient.

If the right is so much in lock step, how is it that a pro-choice candidate is currently the front runner in the Republican Presidential primary?

What evidence do you have to support your claim that anyone opposing Clinton's impeachment was labelled as a "commie" by the entire in-lock-step right wing?

I'll give you Wallace. But do you have any evidence that Tom Delay has done anything wrong?

Also, I don't know all the particulars, but hasn't it been proven true that the communist infiltration that McCarthy was fighting against was actually taking place in America at that time? Weren't many of his accusations (if not tactics) proven valid?

Earth,

Who "lied us into a war"?

France? Great Britain? The U.N.? The former Clinton Administration?

Why did we go into Iraq in the first place?

So Greg, what are you trying to say? That President Bush wasn't the decider? LOL.

Greg,

Please provide a list of Republican politicians who were in Congress at the time of Clinton's impeachment who did NOT vote for impeachment.

Good one, Earth.

But actually, the problem Democrats seem to have with Bush is not so much that he came to the same conclusion that they came to. The problem they have is that, unlike them, he DECIDED to do something about it.

While they all said, "This must be stopped!" That's ALL they did.

Bush, on the other hand, actually stopped it.

Democrats simply cannot stand that. Therefore, they are totally committed to defeat in Iraq for one simple reason: They want to be able to say, "See, we were right all along to do nothing."

No sale, Salient.

You're the one who said the right labelled ANYONE who didn't support impeachment as a "commie".

I asked you to back up that claim. You don't get to slip out of that by asking me to prove you wrong. You made the claim. You back it up.
